Vimukthi Club

Liquor is one among the many menaces and students are no exception to addiction. The young generation is more susceptible to all kinds of drugs including new age drugs like LSD, MDMA etc. An antidrug club named “Vimukthi Club” is functioning inside our college campus. The club aims at identifying the students most vulnerable to addiction of various kinds of drugs and helping them to prevent it. The cell also functions to enlighten the students about the dangers, guiding them to overcome persuasion and taking care of withdrawal difficulties. The Vimukthi Club arranges various awareness programmes in association with the NCC, NSS, and government departments of Police, Excise, and Health. Sri. Sabarigireesh C, Lecturer in Electronics, is the Coordinator of the Vimukthi Club and Smt. Shahina Sudhakaran, Professor in Chemistry, is the Convener. The club also includes the following staff members from different departments and student representatives.

Report of Vimukthi club , Sree Narayana Polytechnic College Kottiyam 2022 -2023

Vimukthi Ckub aims at making our students aware of the dangers involved in drug abuse and to inform about the harmful effects of new psychoactive drugs. An awareness programme in the name “ Jeevithamakatte Lahari “ have been organized by the Vimukthi club Sree Narayana Polytechnic College in association with district information office, excise and police department . The awareness program was inaugurated by Shri Mukunth Thakur I.A.S , Sub collector kollam. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr G Jayadevan, Treasurer SN Trusts. Anti drug pledge was delivered to students by excise inspector Shri Anilkumar . Valuable speeches were also delivered to students by our principal Shri Sandeep.V and C F Dileep kumar , District information officer . Later as part of the awareness program, anti drug human chain was created jointly by students and staff of our college. The students of the Vimukthi club performed various anti drug awareness cultural programmes . The district information office also presented various videos associated with anti drugs campaign. The program attracted a significant attention among our students and faculty members.

The students representatives of Vimukthi club Shri Mahesh M and Shri Ananthavishnu R. D conducted awareness classes among the students of various classes. This awareness classes helped the students to gather information about the harmful effects of new psychoactive drugs.

The Vimukthi club in association with students and staffs of our college have placed various posters containing anti drug slogans at various places inside our college campus to prevent the use of various intoxication drugs.

The students of Vimukthi cell have also participated in the bike rally organized by the Adichanalloor Grama Panchayat in connection with the antidrug awareness program organized by the panchayat department.

In addition to all these the Vimukthi cell members conduct regular meetings, inform the fresher’s in all classes about the harmful effects of new psychoactive drugs and also create awareness among them.
